Overcoming the mainstream propaganda war – Margaret Kimberley #ProtectJu...

If you only want to see me the folks at #Unity4J created this video of my participation in the latest online vigil in support of Julian Assange.

Black Agenda Report is "Good on Russiagate"

I am very proud to be included on this Antiwar.com list of those who have been “good on Russiagate.” That is to say it is a list of people who never fell for the hoax. Glen Ford, Bruce Dixon and the Black Agenda Report site are included too.

WBAI on April 5, 2019

Julianna Forlano and I continued our weekly discussions. We talked about the importance of Martin Luther King's anti-Vietnam war speech on April 4, 1967 and Julianna played portions of the speech. We then talked about how to build progressive politics and whether that can be done within the confines of the democratic party. (I say it can't be done.) I start at about 15 minutes into the program. Listen here.

News Views with Garland Nixon

I continued my day with Garland Nixon on his WPFW program, News Views. We talked for an hour about Black Agenda Report, Black Alliance for Peace anniversary, #NotoNATO protests, Venezuela, Russiagate and the 2020 elections.

You can listen to us here.

Appearance on Fault Lines

I made good use of my time in Washington. After my last appearance on Sputnik's Fault Lines I was invited to be in studio if I was ever in town. Well I was on Friday and appeared in-studio with Garland Nixon and Lee Stranahan. We talked about the anti-NATO protests, Venezuela, 2020 election. Listen here and here.

Black Alliance for Peace Second Anniverary

It isn't a coincidence that Black Alliance for Peace was founded on April 4, 2017. On April 4, 1967 Dr. Martin Luther King gave his famous speech, "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break the Silence," in which he condemned the Vietnam war. On April 4, 1968 he was assassinated because of his increasingly radical political stance.

When BAP and a coalition of peace groups learned that NATO planned to celebrate its 70th anniversary on April 4 we were inspired to protest that desecration and their wars of aggression around the world. A week of #No2NATO actions took place in Washington beginning on March 30th. You can see the BAP event on the video above.

No Compromise! No Retreat!

Online Vigil in Support of Julian Assange

On April 4, 2019 Wikileaks reported a plan to eject Julian Assange from the Ecuadorean embassy in London where he was given asylum in 2012. That asylum was given to him by president Rafael Correa, who is no longer in office. His successor, Lenin Moreno, has cut a deal with the U.S. to turn Assange over in exchange for IMF aide.

Fortunately the publicity surrounding this story has resulted in the Ecuadoreans claiming that they have no such plans. The #Unity4J team once again organized an online vigil in support of Assange. Once again I was lucky enough to be invited to participate. You can see my interview which starts at about the 5 hour mark.

WBAI Interview - March 22, 2019

On my latest appearance on Waking Up with Julianna Forlano we discussed my latest Black Agenda Report column The Permanence of White Supremacy. I wrote it in the wake of the killing of 50 Muslim worshipers in New Zealand. The unhinged shooter cannot be the face of white supremacy, when that ideology is supported by the state, the media and by millions of people. Listen here. We start at about 11 minutes into the program.

WBAI Interview - March 15, 2019

In this segment of Waking Up with Julianna Forlano we discussed the college admissions scandal, phony outrage over the sentence of Paul Manafort, and the 2020 elections. Listen here. We start at about 36 minutes into the program.

P.S. I'm sorry Jacqueline's image is cut off here. Click on the title in the embedded video to see it on Youtube.

Fascist Attack on Venezuela

The Trump administration effort to unseat President Maduro in Venezuela is fascist by any definition. But Donald Trump is not the only criminal. Democratic leaders like Nancy Pelosi and senators Durbin and Murphy support the coup attempt, as does Justin Trudeau in Canada. They are fascists too. I explain in my latest Black Agenda Report column.

Russiagate is the Scam That Will Not Die

Russiagate will not be allowed to die. So far there is no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and the Russian government. Yet the democratic party, the corporate media and their friends in the establishment continue to manufacture falsehoods and exclude the view points of anyone who counters their narrative. The democrats need an excuse to explain away their 2016 loss and a weapon to continue their imperial designs. They also refuse to give their voters what they want and need to create a villain in order to get support. Glen Ford and I discussed Russiagate in this week's edition of Black Agenda Report Radio.

Bearman Radio Show Interview

I had a great time interviewing on the Bearman Radio Show, a Portland based podcast. We discussed the Integrity Initiative, the Russiagate cult, how the duopoly fail us and more. Listening to us talk is a good use of your time. We start at about five minutes into the program. Enjoy.

Listen to "Margaret Kimberley" on Spreaker.

The Integrity Initiative

Unless you know who to follow on social media you don't know anything about the Integrity Initiative. It is a British intelligence agency cut out, officially intended to fight Russian influence. In fact it manipulates opinion with the help of "clusters" of so-called journalists who libeled Jeremy Corbyn, interfered in Spanish politics and even spied on the Bernie Sanders campaign. The Integrity Initiative was the subject of my latest Black Agenda Report column which was entitled "UK and US PSYOPS Collusion." I urge you to read as much as you can on this subject.

#Unity4J Online Vigil in support of Julian Assange 7.0

I was honored to once again join Suzie Dawson, Joe Lauria, Ray McGovern, Chris Hedges, George Szamuely, Graham Elwood, EleanorGoldfield, and Simon Floth to discuss how best to support Julian Assange.

It is no coincidence that the MI6 mouthpiece,The Guardian, tried to connect him with Paul Manafort just as RobertMueller issued his sentencing memo and claimed that Manafort didn't cooperate with him. I wrote about this issue in my current Black Agenda Report column, "Mueller, Manafort and Assange."

Ecuadorean president Lenin Moreno has publicly declared his intention to revoke Assange's amnesty and kick him out of that nation's embassy in London. Please listen to our discussions and support Julian Assange.

George H.W. Bush WBAI Interview

Yesterday I spoke to Paul DeRienzo on WBAI about the legacy of George H.W. Bush. The corporate media is full of hagiography about him. In other words, lies and white washing about his many criminal acts. I discussed everything from his collusion with Iran to prevent the hostage rescue, and the invasion of Panama, which was practice for the attack on Iraq. You can listen here.

Thursday, November 22, 2018

Dublin Conference Interview

I spoke with Don DeBar about the International Campaign Against U.S./NATO Military Bases conference which was held in Dublin, Ireland. We talked for 30 minutes about the conference, AFRICOM and a few other things too. We always have a good conversation.

International Conference Against US/NATO Military Bases

The Global Campaign Against U.S./NATO Military Bases held its first international conference in Dublin, Ireland from November 16 - 18, 2018. I was honored to chair a panel on the topic of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM). I was joined by Anne Atambo of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (Kenya), Paul Pumphrey of Friends of the Congo, and Chris Mahtlako of the South Africa Peace Initiative. Our panel begins at 1 hour 49 minutes on the video embedded below.

The meeting was held at Liberty Hall in Dublin, headquarters of the Services Industrial Professional and Technical Union (SIPTU). There were 300 attendees from 35 different countries. You can see all three of the live stream videos here. Distinguished guests included Dr. Aleida Guevara from the Cuban National Assembly, Nobel laureate Maireade Maguire, Aida Touma-Sliman, a Palestinian member of Israel's parliament, and Irish parliamentarian Clare Daly.

In my panel introduction I touched on the Black Alliance for Peace U.S. Out of Africa Campaign. The new Congress will have a democratic party majority. One of our demands is for the Congressional Black Caucus to take the lead in dismantling AFRICOM. We will find out what value there is, if any, when the democrats can set the agenda.

You can read the press communique on the Black Alliance for Peace website. BAP is a founding member of the Global Campaign. BAP National Organizer Ajamu Baraka attended along with my fellow coordinating committee member Paul Pumphrey.

I also raised the issue of Black Lives Matter and its demise. Enjoy.

#Unity4J Online Vigil in support of Julian Assange 4.0

I'm grateful to have been invited again to speak for Julian Assange. For now the Ecuadorean government has allowed him to stay in itsLondon embassy, but he is literally cut off from contact with theoutside world. He has no phone or internet connections and is not allowed any visitors. So we must speak for him.

I joined activists from around the world on September 1 to do just that. I start at about 1 hour 6 minutes into the program but you can also see and hear Suzie Dawson, Joe Lauria, Nat Parry,Ray McGovern, Ann Garrison, Daniel Ellsberg, Don DeBar, Craig Murray, Niko House and others in 11 hours of conversation about Julian and the political issues surrounding his imprisonment. Great binge watching if I do say so myself.

#Unity4J State of the Movement Address II

I had a great time speaking with host Suzie Dawson,
Cathy Vogan, Vivian Kubrick and Joe Lauria. Suzie starts out with
information about the status of the movement to free Julian Assange and some how to for those
who are already involved.

I'll cut to the chase. I start at about  2 hours 15 minutes. That's when it gets really good. If I may say so myself.

Giuliani Tells the Truth, Brennan Lies

"Truth isn't truth."

The fake resistance clutched their collective pearls when Rudy Giuliani said those words in defense of Donald Trump. But Giuliani was actually revealing the corruption conducted by prosecutors every day in this country. He was being truthful. Former CIA Director John Brennan, now loved by the McResistance, is the big liar these days. Read my latest column here.

Russiagate, Venezuela, Vote Theft

On Monday, August 20 I was honored to join Dr. Edward Rhymes on his Blog Talk Radio program. We discussed my recent Black Agenda Report columns on Russiagate, the theft of the black American franchise, U.S. economic strangulation of Venezuela, and censorship of the left by corporate social media platforms. You can listen to our conversation here after an ad.

Ignoring Trump's Lies

I have written posts about this event before and I'm going to do so again. On June 15, 2017 I moderated a panel discussion with Ray McGovern and Mark Crispin Miller at All Souls Unitarian Church in New York City. The talk was called Making News, Faking News and I urge you to watch it all at your leisure. It was a very illuminating evening for me and for everyone lucky enough to be there.

I was particularly struck by Mark's comments that begin at around 42 minutes and continue until about 47 minutes. I have transcribed most of his words here. I thought of his words again today as the corporate media felt compelled to create news where there is none.

"President Trump admits Don Jr.'s Trump tower meeting was to get info on Clinton" reads just one headline. This is not news. Not at all. Donald Trump Jr. received an email invitation to a 2016 meeting where he, his brother in law Jared Kushner and campaign aide Paul Manafort were promised "incriminating" information on Hillary Clinton from a Russian lawyer. He replied "...if it's what you say I love it." He later released the emails himself so this is definitely not new information.

The stupid Trumps lied for no reason when the intent of the meeting and Trump Jr.'s response were well known for the last year. When Trump, Sr. claimed not to know about that meeting no one believed him either because he is a relentlessly stupid liar.

Keep this in mind when reading Mark's words. Also keep in mind that the Democratic National Committee paid a former British MI6 agent, Christopher Steele, to get dirt on Trump and used it to get FISA court permission to spy on Trump aides. They did so without revealing the source of their information to the judge who approved the warrant to gather surveillance.

“Fake news is the horrible off spring of conspiracy theory. It has come to dominate many minds because of the rise of Donald Trump. Whose function has been, he has several functions, one of them has been to, I call him the deodorant in chief. Because he sanctifies the entire rest of the system. Because all of these people now think two things. They think that the CIA and FBI are on our side. “They believe in democracy. Thank God they’re there to protect us from Russia.” This is liberals now, this is liberals saying this.

And his other function has been to make people think that the New York Times and CNN and MSNBC and NPR tell the truth. And they have taken ferocious advantage of this delusion by constantly reminding us how dear to us they are because they tell us the truth, unlike Trump who is always lying.

Trump. Yeah he lies all the time. I mean If his lips are moving he is probably lying. But the lies that Trump tells are mostly trivial lies, stupid little lies. Like there was a terrorist attack in Sweden when there wasn’t one. Or he had you know 70 mill people at his inauguration when he obviously didn’t. I could go on. …

Far more dangerous than any of his flagrant and trivial idiotic lies are the whoppers that have been successfully put across by the corporate press and the left liberal press in many cases such as Putin invaded Ukraine right, such as there are moderate rebels in Syria’s “civil war” and we are protecting the Syrian people from this dictator who’s massacring all of them. Right. Those are dangerous lies. Russia hacked the election is a dangerous lie because it is war propaganda. That’s what it is. It is war propaganda.

Now I have to say this having studied the media for decades. Having grown up in the country and having absorbed what the media pumps out since I was a child I have never seen a moment like the present. I have never seen a time when the delusion is so total where the lies are so dangerous and where contradicting them is so intensely reviled and this all the doing of liberals. That’s what’s unusual about this. That’s what makes this so different from the first Red Scare not the first Red Scare but the one after WWII when it was mostly troglodyte right wingers and demented Birchers and so on.

Now its democrats and some progressives and its not just the corporate press as I say it’s the left liberal press as well.  And it’s not just the left liberal press and the corporate press but its our premier comedians. It's Stephen Colbert it’s Bill Maher its Saturday Night Live which if that’s not a propaganda instrument for the deep state or whatever you want to call it I don’t know what one is. Because they’ve done frequent bits vilifying Putin and Russians generally they’ve done parodies of Dilma Rousseff. It is non stop State Department propaganda coming from our most important weekly comedy revue show. You find stuff like this on house of cards where Pussy Riot play themselves. There’s a kind of evil Putin character who fits directly in the New York Times version and so on and the propaganda juggernaut even includes Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

So what we’re talking about is an enormously successful inescapable propaganda machine that must have Dr. Goebbels grinning ear to ear in his birth in hell because it has actually managed to determine the furnishings of countless minds of our fellow citizens. I fear to disastrous effect.

As Ray McGovern says the only real salvation that we really have is online. It’s in those websites that have somehow managed to maintain a certain amount of journalistic integrity and it’s in the young people who now have a tremendous amount of facility with the internet and have discovered that you can find the other side of the story in seconds. I take great hope from that and I hope that you can share that hope with me. Thank you.”

Vigil for Julian Assange

"We (Black Agenda Report) have to support Julian Assange and others like him."

I was invited to participate in a 50 hour online Vigil for Julian Assange. The Ecuadorean government recently said that he will have to leave its London embassy. He is in grave danger of being arrested by the U.S. government as soon as that happens.

You can see my comments here. The online vigil lasts until midnight, eastern time, on Monday, August 6th. You can see all of the #Unity4J online vigil interviews here.

Syria: the Cartoon

I'm enjoying this animated video made in 2017. It tells the story of the war against Syria carried out by the United States and its allies. Syria has still not conquered all of its territory so the happy ending is still premature. Aside from men trying to speak as women and children it is interesting and a welcome change to see world events told from a different point of view. Enjoy.

Presstv Immigration Debate

I was a guest on Presstv debating the issue of immigration and Trump's policies of separating families. I sat in a studio in New York staring into a camera with a guy talking in my ear. An interesting experience. I hope I did the subject justice.

Windrush and Britain's Crimes Against Black People

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland committed numerous genocides and wars of aggression over many centuries. The British role in the trans Atlantic slave trade and the existence of its Caribbean economies are some of the worst crimes against humanity ever committed.

We must keep this in mind as the scandalous treatment of Caribbean migrants is exposed. The events surrounding the so-called Windrush generation are part and parcel of that criminality. It was the subject of my latest column in this week's Black Agenda Report. Please read it here.

Presstv Interview

I was asked to comment on the annual State Department report on human rights around the world. The United States has a dreadful human rights record but it always escapes notice. China and others point out the hypocrisy of the U.S. daring to criticize others in this regard. I'm grateful to Presstv for inviting me once again.

Syria, Western Propaganda, & U.S. Imperialism

I had a great conversation with Solomon Comissiong of Your World News. We discussed the propaganda which makes the case for the continued war of aggression against the Syrian people. I also wrote about this issue in my most recent Black Agenda Report column, Syria and Press Propaganda.

American media wrong on Syria coverage – NYU professor

"The American press does a more efficient job of propagandizing its people than RT could ever do because RT's connection to the Russian government is explicit. It is Russia Today. It is like Voice of America or BBC. We know about the state connection. What makes the American propaganda so much more compelling and persuasive to countless Americans especially the best educated ones is the myth that we have a free press and that there is no connection between the state and these corporate outlets."
Mark Crispin Miller

I had the pleasure of meeting Mark Crispin Miller when I joined him and Ray McGovern on the panel Making News, Faking News last year. He is a professor of media studies at New York University and is always worth listening to. Miller appeared on RT yesterday and
made very important points. Please watch.

Presstv April 14, 2018

Last night Donald Trump announced that the United States, France and Britain carried out missile strikes against Syria. I was asked to comment on Presstv Iran. They were having audio and video problems but you can hear and eventually see me. You can hear me for about the first minute. I return at 5:00 minutes until about 9:00 minutes audio and video.

Black Agenda Report and CPR News: Yaser Murtaja and Marie Colvin

This week I covered the stories of Yaser Murtaja and Marie Colvin in my Black Agenda Report column. Yaser Murtaja was a Palestinian journalist who was clearly identified as such when Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) shot and killed him. Marie Colvin was an American reporter embedded with the Free Syrian Army in 2012 when she was killed by missile fire. Her family filed a $300 million lawsuit against the Syrian government claiming that she was deliberately targeted.

One person is minimized and eventually erased while the other is elevated. One is inconvenient and the other presents an opportunity for war propaganda. I also discussed with Don DeBar on CPR News.

No war on Syria! Spring Actions 2018

No war on Syria! Or anywhere else for that matter. There are actions across the country this weekend. Find them on the Spring Action 2018 website. Join me in New York City on Sunday, April 15.

Black Agenda Radio Interview with Glen Ford

Tomorrow is Wednesday, otherwise known as Black Agenda Report day. I spoke with Glen Ford on Black Agenda Radio about police murder, the evil concept of American exceptionalism, internet censorship of the left, gun violence and state violence. Twenty minutes of a wide ranging discussion.

Saturday, April 07, 2018

King's Legacy Betrayed

I was honored when Joe Lauria, the new Editor in Chief of Consortium News, asked me to write about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the 50th anniversary of his assassination. In King's Legacy Betrayed I point out a very sad truth.

Black people in this country are worse off, by every measure, than we were in 1968. We have fewer living wage jobs, a 700% increase in the prison population, the destruction of the social welfare state and the resurgence of United States imperialism. All of these setbacks were deliberate and were intended to undermine the gains of the liberation struggle.

By the way, 700% is no typo. When King was alive the total number of incarcerated persons was just 300,000. It is now more than 2 million.

Popular Resistance Interview

I had the pleasure of talking to Dr. Margaret Flowers and Kevin Zeese of Popular Resistance recently. We discussed the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and the increased militarization of Africa. Margaret and Kevin also spoke with Maurice Carney from Friends of the Congo about that nation's role in African history and the consequences of its colonial and post-colonial subjugation. Cities Race to the Bottom for Amazon

Amazon announced with great fanfare that 20 cities are finalists for its new headquarters. But the winner will be the loser. That is because Amazon requests and gets huge subsidies of public land and money. I analyzed the grand theft in my latest Black Agenda Report column, Oligarch Jeff Bezos.

President of the United States calls African countries "shithole"

My take on Trump's comments in a Presstv interview.

Political Gingervitis: Episode 19-Margaret Kimberley and Dr. Tony Monteiro

I talked to Andrew Stewart on the Rhode Island Media Cooperative podcast Political Gingervitis. On the day we spoke Erica Garner was alive but unconscious. She passed away two days later.

Andrew and I discussed black politics, the dismal failure of the democratic party, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Russiagate. A good convo.

Erica Garner

Eric Garner was killed on video by NYPD officers in 2014. His last words as he was being choked to death were, "I can't breath." A grand jury refused to indict the officer and the Obama department of justice declined to prosecute, although they had jurisdiction and could have prosecuted the killer cop in this or any other case.

His daughter and namesake Erica Garner became the champion of his case. In 2016 she was invited to a presidential town hall broadcast by ABC. It was held on the second anniversary of her father's murder but she was not allowed to ask a question. She felt used and she said so. Eventually she was able to speak to the president.

On Christmas Eve the 27-year old Ms. Garner suffered a heart attack and today she was declared brain dead with no chance of recovery. She was also the mother of an 8-year old and a 4-month old baby. According to her mother Ms. Garner was diagnosed with an enlarged heart during her recent pregnancy and suffered a previous heart attack after the birth.

This family's plight tells us so much about how black people are treated in this country. Police murder and poor health care. Now two motherless children.

But I return to Barack Obama. In eight years his justice department only prosecuted two cops. He only spoke to Ms. Garner because she protested at the 2016 town hall. His response to her can only be described thusly. "I'm sorry for your loss. Fuck you."

Erica Garner asked, "A black person has to yell to be heard?" The answer to that question is always yes.

First They Came for Jill Stein

We must defend Jill Stein. Russiagate is being used to silence the left but we can't let that happen. I had a few thoughts to convey on Black Agenda Report.

Contradictions in White Supremacy

I forgot to post a discussion I had with Don DeBar a few weeks ago. We talked about a Black Agenda Report column I wrote back in November, Contradictions of White Supremacy. I was inspired after the New York Times publication of a controversial interview with an Ohio Nazi. The brouhaha was predictable and necessary but there are aspects of white supremacy which can't be hidden because of outrage generated by the existence of overt racists. Millions of people are racists or benefit from racism yet clutch their pearls because of a guy who owns Nazi memorabilia. They should not have a get out of jail free card.
