Halliburton Screws Its Workers
"I haven't gotten one red cent from them."
KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, has denied unemployment and medical benefits to employs injured in Iraq. So much for believing in Uncle Sam, or corporate America.

Bush and Blair "...should face prosecution, but they won't."
It seems that Tony Blair has more in common with George W. Bush than joining in the occupation of Iraq. He may have engaged in vote fraud in his last election campaign, so charges British MP George Galloway. Listen on Windows Media.

It Takes a Foreigner
"Senator, in everything I said about Iraq I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong - and 100,000 have paid with their lives, 1,600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies."
George Galloway is a member of the British parliament who has been accused of making money from the oil for food program in Iraq. He denies it, vehemently, and today he kicked ass in the U.S. Senate. Watch the video here on Real Player.
Republican Norm Coleman of Minnesota has been trotting out old, discredited documents that purport to show Galloway making money in Iraq during the Hussein regime. No one told Coleman that Galloway already won a libel suit against a British paper that published accounts of these apparently forged documents.
As far as I know, Galloway is the first person to tell U. S. Senators that the occupation of Iraq is based on lies that have killed thousands. Too bad there aren't enough Americans with that much courage.

Koran Desecration
"Yes, two detainees told me completely independently that they had witnessed a Qur'an being thrown in the toilet. Another told me that he had witnessed a Qur'an being stomped on. And another told me he had witnessed a Qur'an being urinated on."
Read the details in Daily Kos.

Newsweek Folds
Whenever I hear Scott McClellan talking about ‘media credibility,’ I strain to remember who it was who admitted Jeff Gannon to the White House press room and called on him all those times.
Whenever I hear this White House talking about ‘doing to damage to our image abroad’ and how ‘people have lost lives,’ I strain to remember who it was who went traipsing into Iraq looking for WMD that will apparently turn up just after the Holy Grail will - and at what human cost.
It was inevitable. Newsweek was brave for a short time but they folded to the White House onslaught. They retracted their Koran in the toilet story and now they have been Rathered by the right wing. Keith Olbermann has the story.

Will Killing Social Security Kill the Republicans?
We can only hope that Eisenhower was right. He certainly was right in describing the would be killers.
"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are...a few other Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 11/8/54

"But it was the painful, invasive, totally nonconsensual nature of the [anal] sex that was so horrible."
Dr. W. David Hager is an ob/gyn who serves on the FDA's Advisory Committee for Reproductive Health Drugs. He calls himself a Christian.
"By making myself available, God has used me to stand in the breach.... Just as he has used me, he can use you."
According to his former wife, Linda Carruth Davis, he also repeatedly raped her over a seven year period. The Nation has the story.

"When you grow up on a farm in Georgia, your first girlfriend is a mule."
That is an exact quote from Neal Horsley. What an ironic last name. Horsley hosts a website that lists the names of abortion doctors, in hopes that anti-abortion terrorists will kill them. In an interview with Alan Colmes, Horsley admitted that he engaged in bestiality. Read the full story here.

Beat it Tony
Tony Blair was re-elected last week, but his party wants him out now. Bush's partner in crime is no longer trusted by the Labor party or the British public. They didn't want the Tories back in, hence his victory. Now that he has secured No. 10 Downing Street for Labor once again, the calls for him to get lost have begun in earnest.

Vote for Bush, or Go to Hell
If, as Senator Bill Frist believes, Democrats are "against people of faith," then it follows that they must be kicked out of church. Rev. Chan Chandler of East Waynesville, North Carolina thinks so. The baptist minister had nine members voted out of the congregation because they 'fessed up to voting for John Kerry.
Of course, once the story hit the media the good reverend changed his tune. He is now welcoming everyone back to church and claiming that is was all a big misunderstanding. The exiled members don't believe it. They went to church with a lawyer at their side.
The drama hasn't ended. Some members quit in support of their oppressed brethren, now some want to toss Chandler himself. Of course he still has supporters. "He's a wonderful, good old country boy," said one. Well, that it explains it all.

Why the Bride was Bug Eyed
In today's previous post I quoted Keith Olbermann who noticed that something was amiss as soon as he looked at the runaway bride's bug eyed expression. Now we know why she was losing it. She and her fiancee lived together but claim never to have had sex.
Things like that will make you crazy. If you don't believe in premarital sex, you shouldn't shack up. If you are going to shack up, you should be making love. Period. End of discussion. No wonder she went AWOL. Steve Gilliard says it better.
What the FUCK? What kind of idiot is this guy? He was living with her. A very platonic relationship? With your future wife?

Bug Eyed Bride
"Those photos of this woman — I don`t know how recent they are. There`s just a feeling about those shots, with her eyes sort of bugging out, that you look at that and say: 'is she going to run or do something?'"
Thank you Keith Olbermann. While you're at it Keith, perhaps you could tell the rest of your colleagues to stop making every missing person case a national story. Well, not every case, just those that involve white women and children, actually little girls more often than boys.
At any rate, the national media ought to be embarrassed. Of course, that would mean having a sense of shame. Never mind. Forget I even said that.

Old and Poor? Just Sell Your House
So says Republican Senator George Allen. If social security privatization doesn't work quite as well as planned just sell your home. The Senator didn't say where you would live, but what the hell. You won't have to do yard work any more.
And by the time they retire, they're going to have a pretty good nest egg there and they don't need as big a house, usually, because they don't want to be cutting grass and trimming hedges, and that is good for the economy as well.
